Unable to open programs!
Recently I've been having trouble trying to open up my cd/dvd writing software and my photo editing software. Both were installed on my system when i bought my pc and have been working fine until a few days ago. I downloaded software named "System Mechanic" and ran a system check using it, ever since then i have been getting messages saying certain parts of each program is missing and to re-install the application, only trouble is, I don't have the discs! Does anyone know of another way round this? Your help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hello orbiter.
I don't have System Mechanic, is there an icon on the desktop?
If so, right click on it and open Properties > Find Target.
Look inside the contents of System Mechanic and see if there is a folder containing backups.
Usually programs come with a 'ReadMe', the instructions to restore backups should be in it. :)

its been years since i had system mechanic installed.
i think that you allowed system mechanic to just fix everything it thought to be corrupted or whatever
i seem to remember that you could restore "fixed items" with system meachanic, there is a tool inside that program to make it, just cant give you specific instructions how to do it
for more instructions i'd advise you to contact the programs support team

Thanks illukka but that must only apply to System Mechanic 6, i have System Mechanic 7 installed and it doesn't have the same set-up. I can't see a "Repair Tools menu" or the "Repair and Clean Registry link" so can't select "Backup or Restore the Registry from the drop-down list". I really appreciate your help!
