The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "RelevantKnowledge" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:

RelevantKnowledge is a software to get information from users for market research. It can be installed in background without user consent. When installed manually the EULA shows that the user is required to be at least 18 years of age but this is only shown in the EULA and no where else in the installer. RelevantKnowledge installs itself as browser add-on and hooks itself to many system processes using a winlogon entry.

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "{d08d9f98-1c78-4704-87e6-368b0023d831}".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\chrome.manifest".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\components\rlxg.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\components\rlxh.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\components\rlxi.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\components\rlxj.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\install.rdf".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If RelevantKnowledge uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.

• The directory at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\RelevantKnowledge".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\components".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If RelevantKnowledge uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "mkndcbhcgphcfkkddanakjiepeknbgle" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Google\Chrome\Extensions\".
• Delete the registry key "RelevantKnowledge" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\".
• Delete the registry key "rlvknlg" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ESENT\Process\".
• Delete the registry value "{3C5F0F00-683D-4847-89C8-E7AF64FD1CFB}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\".
• Delete the registry value "<$PROGRAMFILES>\relevantknowledge\rlvknlg.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
• Delete the registry value "<$PROGRAMFILES>\relevantknowledge\rlvknlg.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
• Delete the registry value "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RelevantKnowledge\rlvknlg.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".

If RelevantKnowledge uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
