Description:

The tool "Deskarbuilder" makes it very easy to create new toolbars that appear on the right side of the taskbar. But lots of these toolbars get installed automatically without users permission. Utilizing these toolbars to perform a search often ends up in malicious websites

Supposed Functionality:

Installs a deskbar on the right side of the taskbar.

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "DBTB00001.DBTB00001Deskbar".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "c:\deskbar8.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\about.html".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\basis.xml".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\deskbar.crc".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\deskbar.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\deskbar.inf".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\icons.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\inst.bat".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\mbback.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\mbbigopen.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\mbclose.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\mbfwd.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\mblogo.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\mbsep.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\options.html".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar\softomate.gif".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Deskbar uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Deskbar".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Deskbar uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "DBTB00001" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
• Delete the registry key "Deskbar" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DBTB00001\".
• Delete the registry key "{81AE99B6-6212-4ECC-8A88-D3907D87C014}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "DBTB00001.DBTB00001", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "DBTB00001.DeskBar", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "DBTB00001.deskbarBHO", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "DBTB00001.deskbarBHO.1", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "DBTB00001.DeskbarEnabler", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "DBTB00001.DeskbarEnabler.1", plus associated values.
• Delete the registry key "{8F15B157-40D9-4B20-8D3B-B1F8B475B58D}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{A0881AA1-68BE-41AC-9C0D-4C8A69C6C72C}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{E827FFD9-95D1-4B49-BEB3-5D49E688C108}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{A4C8F181-6CDB-4DCC-9FC9-BB9933C81E1F}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
• Delete the registry key "{81AE99B6-6212-4ECC-8A88-D3907D87C014}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
• Delete the registry key "{A8B28872-3324-4CD2-8AA3-7D555C872D96}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\".
• Delete the registry value "{A8B28872-3324-4CD2-8AA3-7D555C872D96}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks\".

If Deskbar uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
