The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Smitfraud-C.FakeAlert" manually.

Description:

Smitfraud-C.FakeAlert shows faked messages that look like security updates from Microsoft. If the user clicks on one of these messages the computer starts to download various rogue antispyware tools and other malicious stuff like Smitfraud-C., Smitfraud-C.Toolbar or Fraud.Protectionbar. It also changes start page and search page internet Explorer

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

• Entries named "pro" and pointing to "*\winstall.exe".
• Entries named "mainrescontr" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\mainrescontr.exe".
• Entries named "tcpipmon" and pointing to "tcpipmon.exe".
• Entries named "ControlPanel" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\cmd32.exe*".
• Entries named "pro" and pointing to "*\*.exe".

Important: There are more autorun entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "Xsfer".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\msdn_lib.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\notifysb.dll".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\notifysb.dll".
• A file with an unknown location named "notifysb.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\vblhanf.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\higehsg.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\oksrqqu.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\cmd32.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\xsfer.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\zup.exe.exe".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Smitfraud-C.FakeAlert uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry value "{e6adaaf0-79b2-4cf1-a660-50a0b33991a1}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\SharedTaskScheduler\".
• Delete the registry value "didymiums" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad\".
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "aCq4nOiOhr.eM9o", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "AdfGHost.Cli", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "bA5dRPnmAy.5siE", plus associated values.

• Delete the registry key "94482b9c-e574-4a70-9266-b88805806026" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WinSock2\Buibert\".
• Delete the registry key "9fd2038f-b508-41e7-9e48-e3021250e982" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WinSock2\Buibert\".
• Delete the registry key "a286f220-4bd7-464a-8c9f-cb2e5c6ce798" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WinSock2\Buibert\".
• Delete the registry key "a30c0e71-3cd9-4c11-ab5e-716eda24ab27" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WinSock2\Buibert\".
• Delete the registry key "bf4b8d19-7e84-4ac0-a4c3-be1d5153c056" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WinSock2\Buibert\".

If Smitfraud-C.FakeAlert uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

Browser:
