Slow system and unstable - bbgoogle.exe ?

Hi Spybot forums :)

I'm not really sure how to describe the problems I'm having with my pc, but to say that I've experienced reduced performance and noticed a few unrecognized processes running lately.

bggoogle.exe (I've googled it and seems to be malware or something).

There are others but I'll leave it to the experts.

I have attempted to fix the problem by running: SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Please help!

You must have read and followed the "Before you Post" instructions.

Please read the "Before you Post" directions again, you missed instructions to disable Teatimer, be sure you missed nothing else you need to know. If you still need help and wish to continue, we will start like this.

1) Is that a wireless router you are running? See this information:

2) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

3) This tool will look for a Rootkit infection.
Download it to your Desktop
ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/fsbl.exe
Double click the fsbl.exe and accept the agreement
Click NEXT...then Scan
BlackLight will Scan for hidden items
If anything is found save the report and post it.
Items found may be valid so do not remove anything.

4) If you still have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware there is no need to dowload it, but make sure you are updated to at least:
Version 1.40 (Database 2586 8/9/2009) and that you run it as instructed.
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

5) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

I must have disabled some email notification settings on these forums as I was not even aware there was a reply on this post either. I'll just keep looking regularly to make sure this doesn't happen again.

I have successfully disabled teatimer, I must have taken the scan before I did that. Again, sorry.

My system is now not booting at all (sad), I've encountered corrupt ntfs.sys errors and the bsod. I'm attempting to recover using boot disk and recover console etc... some success.

Once I get back in I'll get on with the other steps you have outlined in your post.

Hi,

I've had some success recovering the laptop so far.

I've backed up all my data, but have not been able to boot since.

I've been attempting to recover the boot files etc but no luck so far (about 2 days!)

I'm going on a 3 week break to Thailand (in a few hours) so I'm going to have to leave it till I get back. Sorry for the inconvenience. I was really hoping to get it going way before this came up.

Anyway, it looks like a full re-install for this little black sheep.

Good thing I have had backups. I used hirens boot cd to get access and make sure all files are backed up.

I'll try again to get the boot files back in order when I get back.
