The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "AdwareFinder" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:

AdwareFinder is not operational, it does start the gui but does not scan or protect the computer in any way, even filepaths are made wrong.
The toolbar is only partly operational, searchengine only shows sponsored links, which are very questionalble because the search for antispyware tools leads to malicious antispyware vendors like SpywareBot

Supposed Functionality:

supposed to be an antispyware tool and a proper IE toolbar with security options and searchengine

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

• Entries named "ADFMON" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\adfmon.exe?-minimize".

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "XBTB07709.XBTB07709Toolbar".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• A file with an unknown location named "AdwareFinder.msi".
• The file at "<$STARTMENU>\AdwareFinder\AdwareFinder.lnk".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdFinderToolbar\basis.xml".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdFinderToolbar\icons.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdFinderToolbar\mini_logo.bmp".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdFinderToolbar\popunder.html".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdFinderToolbar\SUBadwarefinder.crc".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdFinderToolbar\SUBadwarefinder.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdFinderToolbar\version.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder\AdFinderToolbar.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder\adfmon.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder\AdwareFinder.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder\App2.ico".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder\fix.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder\license.rtf".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If AdwareFinder uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AdwareFinder\backup".

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "{CC490D15-CC4F-40DA-A599-72079AC93C4D}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\".
• Delete the registry key "{FDA816BB-1F7F-47D4-A219-99871A109F0C}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\".
• Delete the registry key "XBTB07709" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
• Delete the registry key "{15BBCA9A-6A7B-4B5B-8288-15D3B83FE988}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{9D5C4DAE-1EB0-44C3-BA51-BA10081A436D}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "ToolBand.XBTB07709", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "ToolBand.XBTB07709.1", plus associated values.
• Delete the registry key "{9D4B2594-F37F-4104-8DB6-BC9FA155A6DC}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "XBTB07709.IEToolbar", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "XBTB07709.IEToolbar.1", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "XBTB07709.XBTB07709", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "XBTB07709.XBTB07709.1", plus associated values.
• Delete the registry key "{FDA816BB-1F7F-47d4-A219-99871A109F0C}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
• Delete the registry value "{CC490D15-CC4F-40DA-A599-72079AC93C4D}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser\".
• Delete the registry value "{CC490D15-CC4F-40DA-A599-72079AC93C4D}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks\".
• Delete the registry value "{CC490D15-CC4F-40DA-A599-72079AC93C4D}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\".

If AdwareFinder uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
