Manual Removal Guide for E2Give

The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "E2Give" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:

This piece of malware downloads numerous files from the internet, it is perpetually running in the background and fills the computer with all kinds of garbage.In addition to this it can also be used as a keylogger.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

• Entries pointing to "ptech.exe".
• Entries named "drmaut" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\drmaut.exe".
• Entries named "aircity" and pointing to "*\aircity.exe".

Important: There are more autorun entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "e2g Plugin".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• A file with an unknown location named "IeBHOs.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\log.~".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\mm83.ocx".
• The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\ei.exe".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\pi1_25.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\data.~".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\key.~".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\key.~".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\log.~".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\log.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "data.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "key.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "keylog.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "log.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "ptech.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\data.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "MediaMotor25.exe".
• A file with an unknown location named "MediaMotor25a.exe".
• A file with an unknown location named "mm.exe".
• The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\ei.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\aircity.exe".
• The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\HOs.dll".
• A file with an unknown location named "data.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "HOs.dll".
• A file with an unknown location named "key.~".
• A file with an unknown location named "aircity.exe".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\..\E2G\IeBHOs.DLL".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If E2Give uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.

• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\E2G".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If E2Give uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "{4A5AB7AE-6ACC-4A03-9394-701679BF1588}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{4A5ABB10-655F-4C0E-8960-D6C14933BB47}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{3643ABC2-21BF-46B9-B230-F247DB0C6FD6}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\".
• Delete the registry value "ifssig" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run\".
• Delete the registry key "{3B99F202-145A-4E5A-AC7B-88A36910BF5E}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\".
• Delete the registry key "{3643ABC2-21BF-46B9-B230-F247DB0C6FD6}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{3B99F202-145A-4E5A-AC7B-88A36910BF5E}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
• Delete the registry value "drmaut" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run\".
• Delete the registry key "Ptech" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
• Delete the registry key "IeBHOs.DLL" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\".
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "IeBHOs.Control", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "IeBHOs.Control.1", plus associated values.
• Delete the registry key "E2G" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
• Delete the registry key "{E9041F85-3C18-4A7E-A29D-E24F84B79BF1}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\".
• Delete the registry key "{3643ABC2-21BF-46B9-B230-F247DB0C6FD6}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".

If E2Give uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

Browser:

The following browser plugins or items can either be removed directly in your browser, or through the help of e.g. Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer.
