Windows Firewall Grayed Out WinXP Home..

Since installing Windows XP Home SP 2 on my laptop and my fiance's desktop the firewall option in security center is grayed out and stuck in the "on" position...Says at the top of the window "some options are controlled by group policy for your protection"... Have tried removing NAV2007 and Removed Windows Defender, nothing seems to restore the options in firewall. I want to turn firewall off because i believe it is blocking my ability to share files and printers... Please help.

PS.
I have networked XP and Non XP machines before and have everything configured correctly, so i don't need help with networking, just trying to figure out how to get the firewall options un grayed out.
