Manual Removal Guide for LightLogger

The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "LightLogger" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:

LightLogger records all keystrokes without the user's awareness or consent about this and is not visible for the normal user. When LightLogger gets installed on the system it creates a system service for getting started on every startup.

Removal Instructions:

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

• Items named "LightLogger Help.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\lightlogger.chm".
• Items named "Show Logs (Default).lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\*.exe".
• Items named "Show Logs (Passwords).lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\*.exe".
• Items named "Show Logs (Special Characters).lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\*.exe".
• Items named "Uninstall.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\uninstall.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\Homepage.lnk".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\explorer.ico".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\key.gif".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\license.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\lightlogger.chm".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\mspaint.ico".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\out.html".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger\uninstall.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\drivers\LightLogger.log".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\drivers\LightLogger.sys".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If LightLogger uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.

• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\HeavenWard\LightLogger".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\HeavenWard\LightLogger".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\HeavenWard".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If LightLogger uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "LightLogger" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "LightLogger" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "LightLogger" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\".

If LightLogger uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
