Actually, the final 1.6 code is now using an executable (SDFiles.exe) which gives us a nice stand-alone interface instead of the previous method which required manually registering SDFiles.dll and...
In my case it's using ~28 Meg RAM and ~25 Meg VM. Don't remember what v1.5 used though...
Oddly enough, I do not see CPU spikes when TT is doing its normal tasks (like allowing or denying...
Unfortunately, at least on some systems, it does stay at 99% until I manually kill it.
And even on the systems where it does recover, it takes a minimum of 1 minute to do so (sometimes much...
Looks like I was at least partially premature on the TeaTimer fix.
The app crash is fixed, but a CPU utilization spike problem remains.
If anyone else is seeing TeaTimer.exe CPU spikes, please...
I can now reproduce this problem on any XP SP3 system, though to varying degrees.
In every case, I see a TT CPU spike when it first initializes after a reboot and again whenever it is manually...
Mine is a 2.8 GHz P4 (lowly single) with 1 Gig of RAM.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0.667.0, but no software firewall.
And this was a clean install since I was testing all of the betas and RC's and...
Same thing happened to me during the 1.6 beta testing. See the report here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=30453&page=2#11
and my later explanation of what happened [after the...
Looks like I have found a problem similar to the one I previously reported here during the beta phase:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=30453#7
On an XP SP3 system, if I fully exit...
I didn't want to start a new post-RC2 thread for this - but just to follow up, I can confirm that the TeaTimer crash and problem with settings not being remembered is fixed in 1.6 final (1.6.0.30). ...
Actually, for me it doesn't.
With RC2, clicking on Ignore the first time that message appears gets rid of it for good.
Plausible assumption, since apparently that's what I did... :D: :p:
Bummer. Any other solutions then? My searches have turned up nothing, but then I'm not even too sure what to search on for this.
I think I figured out what happened here. I either only...
I notice that the "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" context menu entry is not implemented when selecting folders as you previously said it was here. :sad:
What's the deal with spybotsd_includes.exe? What is in that file and why does it have to be downloaded during installation? Can't whatever is in there be bundled into the installer so it can be a...
Duh. Sorry. Should have included that detail... :oops:
No, that works fine. When I first unselect "Resident protection" I do see a TeaTimer.exe CPU jump - but it is very brief in comparison...
Good thing you went with another RC... :D:
I've found a rather nasty TeaTimer problem that wasn't present in previous releases.
Ever since first installing Spybot-S&D I have been using a...
Don't worry, if that's the way EDIT behaves then the new Spybot-S&D context menu entry will also work when selecting multiple files. It's all the same issue - some weird problem with Explorer. If...
Excellent! Thanks as always! :)
I still see it - but I do think I remember it not being selected by default during installation. Maybe that's what happened to you?
Well, here's something to consider before a potential final...
I believe that whitelists are overriding blacklists - and if so, I think that may be a bad idea.
The behavior I saw relates to my...
Funny, it lets me select the location:

Are you just not getting the choice because no updates are available after your last update?
...
Are you sure you read the response?
Are you really saying that the updater works the same if you select Start -> Programs -> Spybot-S&D -> Update Spybot-S&D?
And you really don't see a "Web...
Please read the stupid beta threads so you don't repeat something already addressed:

Ha! You're correct, it can be spelled with an "S" in British English. :D:
I'm familiar with "O" vs. "OU", but didn't know this one.
I actually did a dictionary check first, but my locally...
@PepiMK:
BTW, if interested in why those Copy and Move To dialogs pop-up like that, here is a response from Microsoft:

I also...
I'm actually relieved to hear that the context menu multiple file selection issue isn't limited to me. :D:
You are correct about Edit - that doesn't work for me either if selecting multiple files...
I tried modifying the default key under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sdfiles\command as follows:
1. "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDFiles.exe" "%1" %*
2. "C:\Program Files\Spybot -...
Just an FYI for you...
The context menu entry for FileAlyzer (1.5.5.0) contains a mis-spell:
"Analyse file with FileAlyzer"
That should be "Analyze" - with a Z (not an S).
Unless of...
Thanks very much, I really appreciate you looking into it.
It did actually work on my 4th XP system which has SP2, so maybe SP3 does have something to do with it. I can't apply SP3 to the system...
I can't figure out why this is happening. I'm now seeing it on three different XP SP3 systems. Unfortunately I pretty much install the same stuff on all my systems and configure them all the same...
There is a bug related to this - or if not a bug, certainly some undesirable behavior.
If you unselect the "Use source whitelists" and/or "Use entry black- and whitelists" options, they...
Thanks, now it works fine. And now that I can summon it through the context menu I do see the database load time improvement. File-by-file scanning time is the same as it was under the properties...
One bug/annoyance found:
If this new release of SpybotSD finds Lavasoft Ad-Aware on the system, you get a confirmation pop-up [warning of possible incompatibilities] about it when SpybotSD starts....
Oh, and scan time was 30 seconds slower than beta 2:
v1.5.2.20 = 20 minutes 17 seconds
v1.6.0.25 = 4 minutes 2 seconds
v1.6.0.26 = 7 minutes 17 seconds
v1.6.0.27 = 7 minutes 47 seconds
Sorry, but where is the context menu entry for this? Must we do something to enable it?
I can launch the new SDFiles.exe program manually and then d'n'd to it successfully, but no context menu...
There is most certainly a slow-down in beta 2.
On my XP SP2 test system, scan results were:
v1.5.2.20 = 20 minutes 17 seconds
v1.6.0.25 = 4 minutes 2 seconds
v1.6.0.26 = 7 minutes 17...
I can confirm this bug.
And I can confirm it is really nasty... :sad:
Well this is bizarre...
Earlier today I upgraded to the new beta 2 (1.6.0.26).
Back when I was using 1.5 I manually created a scheduled task to run the following:
"C:\Program Files\Spybot -...
Unfortunately [for me], on the 4 XP systems I have access to (one of which is a rather fresh XP SP2 install), that is not what I see. Instead I see this:
...
Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you were saying that if you searched on something that was an exact single result topic match in the index it wasn't hanging for you. :)
Thanks for the further...
Sorry about that, I didn't explain what I was referring to clearly enough.
This is not an issue with single file scanning. Nor is it an issue with the initial database load time.
This "slow...
Oh, and the scan times within the "Spybot-S&D" tab (added by registering sdfiles.dll) are also significantly slower than normal scans. Not sure if that's a true bug or not.
Not for me. Only happens when I open it through the Spybot interface.
Platform = XP Pro SP2 (under VMware Workstation 6.0.4 build 93057) with nothing else running

I think I may have found a problem with the English.chm help file.
Can someone please try to reproduce this:
Open Spybot-S&D, click on Help (in the menu bar), and select Help.
Once the help...
I know I'm new to the forums, but for what it's worth my opinion is that it should be enabled by default.
If you think about it, most (if not all) security tools which can scan files and folders...
Thanks very much! That did it.
Was this supposed to happen by default during installation? If so, I think there may be a bug because I didn't see it on multiple XP systems.
In the post here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=21451
it is shown that there can be a "Spybot-S&D" tab on file properties panels, but I don't have this and can't figure out how to...
