I dont see why. I install SpybotSD/Adaware/AVG to the non default location and its fine.

Firstly try and install Spybot to a different location.
Check your registry for anything dodgy running in the following locations:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > WINDOWS > CURRENT...
