seeing how quickly it did the scan including the HOSTS file I didn't bother testing without.

It still opens on the setup page every time I open Spybot though.

The fan on my works PC has been spinning none stop since installing SP3 (and cpu usage hasn't drop below 30% even when nothing's running), maybe xp3's the problem. It used to be permanatly silent...

The HOSTS file is used by spybot to block bad web sites. So every time you immunize with spybot it will recreate the file. The extra files are probably backups as spybot backs up the old file before...

No problems with the betas installed on my PC.

Would it be possible to have the HOSTS file entries as a seperate download? e.g. http://www.spybot.info/en/download/HOSTS.zip This would make things easier for people like myself who use multiple...

as far as I can tell the problem is not SpyBot but Windows. It happens with a lot of usage tracks, SpyBot removes then and Windows instantly recreates then.

I would also reccomend CCleaner. it's small, fast and cleans crap from loads of programs. If you're not to confident with computers leave all of the advanced section unchecked. :)
