Thanks I actually had done that. Called MSFT which told me that the security center is disabled by Norton and cannot work if you use Norton Security 2008 so Spybot will always give me that 'error'...

Silly question but my security service was stopped by malware. I've now deleted all the malware and this is the only error that pops up and I can't see where to restart the service.
