no current detectable problems. The "hung spybot" symptom seems to have been taken care of. Strangely, though, I'm running Spybot 1.3 on my laptop and it doesn't get stuck on that...

OK, I reinstalled Spybot and everything went swimmingly! Here is the report. (had to break the file into 2 parts) There were a lot of items found! Thanks for your help!
