Just out of curiosity...where did you guys learn so much about this? Did you guys go to school for it or are you basically self taught?

did you ever figure out what was wrong with it? My fan seems to run alot more frequently than it ever has before...I figured it was just my imagination but I've been wrong before.

I would recommend listening to drragostea. He is usually always right with these thread questions. This one is no different. VLC Media Player is probably one of the better media players out there.

Getting to your first question, I would run the updates just for all the security updates which possibly could have prevented the virus you have now.
As for your second question, I would listen to...

I am still stubbornly working with an XP and refuse to go to Vista as long as possible...I may even..(gulp)...buy a MAC just to avoid Vista

My favorite two are probably Web Developer and I think maybe ShowIP. I probably use those two more than any others.
