Default Think there is something wrong with my computer - Ultimate cleaner

I am not very into computers but do think I have a problem.

Firstly I keep getting Ultimate Cleaner pop ups and I have tried to delete these but still they keep arriving.

Also, I used to have to click on my name to start up my computer but now it just keeps going straight to my desktop. I don't know if in my niave attempts at trying to sort out things I have done more harm than good.

I would be grateful for some help and support with this.

Welcome to the forum, There is no doubt you have a problem. This Ultimate cleaner is a rouge product: http://www.castlecops.com/s13429-Ultimate_Cleaner.html
that usually comes with other junk. Here is what looks to be the downloader:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xrntyeg.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe "C:\Documents and Settings\comet\Local Settings\Application Data\xrntyeg.dll",llxkrve
    http://sandbox.norman.no/live_2.html?logfile=1667936 <<< see this info

and my first suggestion is to stay offline until you are clean. The junk will download more.
This junk is usually found with Smitfraud, so I would like to take a look first to see if it is present. Follow these instructions.
    http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download and tutorial

    Follow ONLY these directions:

    Search:
    Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Post the C:\rapport.txt in this same topic using Post Reply and as soon as I have a look we will get after the rest of the junk.

I would also like a look at your uninstall list like this:
    Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
    Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

    Thanks

Thanks for returning your information the Smitfraudfix has located the infection, so please follow these directions.

Before we start, your Java program is badly out of date, see this information:
    http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.p...80&postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01\ <<< out of date, download the newest version and uninstall all old versions in Add Remove Programs.

    1) Clean: Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
    Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

    Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

    2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

    3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
    http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

    4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {75453F37-5415-C55F-05A7-04BD02A3D836} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\wpjkave.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    5) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

    C:\PROGRAM FILES~1\MYWEBSEARCH~1 <<< delete that folder

    C:\Documents and Settings\comet\Local Settings\Application Data\xrntyeg.dll <<< delete that file

    6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the C:\Report.txt from Smitfraudfix, a new HJT log and let me know how the computer is running now.

I have now also updated my Java program. You mentioned about spywareblaster and/or IE-SPYAD. I dont have either of these, would they be fairly important to get? Also, is there anything else I should do to protect my computer better?

The other thing is that when I put my computer on I used to get a user name list to gain access to my computer. Although this is not critical to me, I am not getting this any longer - but do in safe mode.

Thank you for all your help.

Smitfraudfix has been updated to 2.140. We may want to update and run it again? Hard to keep up with the hackers, let's see.

Those 04 items were removed by Smitfraudfix, I just had you double check.

The HJT log appears clean of malware How is the computer running now? As far as your questions, I will post links from experts, after you review that information, If you still have questions, post them. I will do my best to give you answers.
The other thing is that when I put my computer on I used to get a user name list to gain access to my computer. Although this is not critical to me, I am not getting this any longer - but do in safe mode.
I am not sure about this, could be some of the malware made changes in your setting? I am not quite clear on what it is you are asking, explain it in more detail, exactly step for step what is happening and I will see what I can find out.

If all else is running ok, we will assume Smitfraudfix v2.139 did the job, and I will give you this information.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
