as you are all proberbly all very pc literate, can someone advise me on how to obtain free (if possible) software to download, for a,- ( dont laugh...)

As far as I know the software is not free.
A Google search will show where to purchase the products.

drivers are all you need ?
try driverguide.com they try to sell their drivertool box all day long and while you have their site up you get popups about it but i have never had any problems with any drivers i got from there

search for it on the epson web site under support and it will give you all the programs that came with it orginaly sorry about the double post
