Default Think I might be infected by a Trojan

    Hey guys,

This is my first post on these forums so excuse noobism. Anyway, I've been receiving a lot of email recently saying I've been hacked. I ran some tests and I did find a Trojan with Avast which I removed but I'm still getting the email. I'm trying to figure out whether I'm still infected or whether Avast killed it and the email I'm getting is just spam.

I had a look at tasklist and I can't find any suspicious processes (well nothing google could reveal) so I ran hijackthis and I thought I'd post it here and see whether anyone could find anything.

    Here's the log:

G'Day Elliot and welcome to the forum, the only thing I see in the HJT log is this junk:
    C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe
    O4 - Startup: LimeWire On Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe G

Your Java program is slightly outdated and that can cause you problems, see this:
    http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.p...80&postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\ <<< out of date, download the newest version and uninstall all old version in Add Remove programs.

If this stuff is coming in I would say it is spam which we all live with. Your email program should have filters that can be set to send most of the spam to the junkmail. If you have questions about how to use the filters:

If I can help more, let me know.

Thanks for the prompt reply pskelley. I have installed mailwasher and blacklisted the senders. That appears to have solved the problem. Thanks a bunch for your help.
