Default Smitfraud C driving me mad...

I have run hijack this for results see below, I am running XP , zone alarm, avg free version, I have ran several spyware progs but the only one that detects Smitfraud c is spybot it shows 40 files but can't delete any of them, my mouse pointer slows down to almost a stop, sometimes keyboard strokes don't register, the only way to get my pc to opereate normally is to shut it down for 30 minutes or so, this happens randomly....please advise in basic language if possible

    hi stee41,

your hjt log is missing some info. latest version is 1.99.1 dont know how the 2 got there? you are also missing critical updates/patches for windows and IE.

i would print this out or copy it to a text file like notepad, then save it to your desktop so you can get to it in safe mode.

ok heres what we will do to start. first attempt to update spybot and avg.
next go out and get Ewido Security suite. install, update but dont run any of them yet. we will do that in SAFE MODE.

    Ewido info:
    1. Download Ewido and install
Ewido Security Suite. It is a free trial version of the program:

    http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

    2. Install ewido security suite
    3. Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
    4. The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

    1. On the left hand side of the main screen click update
    2. Then click on Start Update
    -----------------------------------------------
after updating ewido, spybot and avg, boot computer into SAFE MODE.
you reach safe mode by tapping the f8 key during a restart. chose the first option SAFE MODE. may take couple minutes to get to the safe mode desktop.

ok once in safe mode run ewido, spybot and avg.

    ewido:
    start ewido
    Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
Save the report to your desktop

    Close Ewido
    --------------------------------------------
    run spybot and avg next.

    next:

    Click Start>Run then type %temp%
Hit OK. Delete all the files you can.

Empty your Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin

still in safe mode: start hjt and scan and save a new log while in safe mode
    ------------------------------------------
after all that reboot computer normally. if computer is functioning better visit windows update for critical updates/patches:

    http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu....aspx?ln=en-us

in any case rescan with hjt again.
post the ewido log and the hjt log from safe mode and normal mode

you have zone alarm-- look in programs file for anything unusual
maybe something new that asked for accsess? deny it accsess from the program file.
    ------------------------------------------
    shelf life
