    Default Tony Errington's HijackThis Log

This is my Hijack log regarding my earlier query on the forum '100's of Tea Timer messages about the same registry change'. I followed all the instructions from Tashi. The Bit Defender virus scan found nothing (see log directly below), and the only thing the Spybot run found was that the Windows Firewall nofication was switched off (I run Zone alarm).

    Hi

Thank you for your quick response, and its good to know everything looks okay. This started because I got 100's of popups from Tea Timer when I refused a request to change the SearchAssistant in IE6 to Google (we use Yahoo as the home page). I only stopped them by switching off Tea Timer. I have not tried to switch Tea Timer back on as I assume I would just get the popups again. Tashi said if there were no problems with the log it would be easy to fix the popups. So what do I do now?

    Hi there.

tashi-If there isn't a problem then we can address the popup issue.

Open IE>Tools>Internet Options>Set the home page to the one you wish to have. Click OK.

Those pop-up notifications will be issued if an actual registry change is made, but you may be able to eliminate many of the pop-ups if you are getting at lot of them at system startup.

TeaTimer takes snapshots of Registry entries and compares these with the Registry at startup. Until these snapshots are updated you are likely to get pop-ups (primarily at startup) of changes you or a program you installed made in the past. In other words, TeaTimer attempts to return the Registry to the state it was in when the snapshot was taken. To refresh TeaTimer's snapshot files:

Right click Spybot's TeaTimer System Tray Icon > click Exit Spybot-S&D Resident.
    TeaTimer closes.
TeaTimer's snapshot files are refreshed at this time.

    Restart TeaTimer:
Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy.
Double click TeaTimer.exe to start it.

See if that helps and let us know.
