    Question msswchx - Adaware.Findwhatever

My OS is Windows Me. I scan often with Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware SE. I also have Spyware Blaster installed.

I just noticed a new process running in the background called msswchx. A Google search tells me this is spyware and should be removed. The instructions for removal tell you to start your computer in Safe Mode then scan with your Symantec Anti-virus application. I don't use Symantec (Norton), I use AVG, which also finds nothing during a full system scan.

My question is, why doesn't Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware detect this? Also, how do I safely remove it from my PC and the registry?

One last rant, if I may. I just had to reformat my hard drive due to malware and I feel helpless in fighting it anymore. I'm so sick of this! :(

Here's my Hijack This log file:

    Hi threeofhardts
    Your log looks fine
msswchx.exe appears to be a windows file, if in the future you want to double check any paticular file go here and submit it
    Submit a file--VirusTotal: http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

    Hi Lonny ~

Thank-you for the reply. In looking at my log I couldn't find any trace of msswchx and it's nowhere to be seen tonight. Last night my computer froze up on me so I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and saw it on the list. My search to find out exactly what it was did seem confusing because there were some indications that it was indeed a Windows app.

Thank-you for the link. I will save that one!

(P.S. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I hate when that happens!) :o
