Welcome to Safer Networking, if you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, it appears you have missed some important instructions our administrator has posted at the top of the forum, especially this: "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please read and follow all instructions and post all required logs or reports, anything less will slow your process.
Use "Post Reply" to post the information in the instructions and stay in the same topic.

Thanks for returning your HJT log, what program did you do that scan with? The problem is I am not getting any information from you. Please post what your symptoms are, if popups, where do they want you to go, or what are the popups. I can see you had a Vundo infection that is partially removed, but I can't tell if any is left. I don't know what you have done so far. Here is what I do know. Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888 <<< this is not your problem. Please make sure Spybot is the newest version, that you have the newest updates and are completely immunized. That toolbar is a false positive, see this:
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=8668

I will need to collect some information first, please follow the instructions carefully. Do not rush, I also suggest you keep this computer offline except when you are troubleshooting until we get it clean.

    1) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
    Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

    2) C:\Program Files\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< rename HJT.exe, call it JimmyF.exe or what ever you wish.

    3) Thanks to andymanchesta and anyone else who helped with the fix.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.
    http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/R...ools/SDFix.exe

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    Restart your computer
    After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    Choose your usual account.
Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

(wait until you are done to post the reports and logs)

    4) Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the uninstall list the Report.txt from SDFix, the combofix log and a new HJT log. Post any information or comments you think will help.

    Thanks...Phil

Hi, Thanks for comming back to me. As you can tell all this is new to me.

I have tried to open HJT program again and it is just flashing open and closes again. I have uninstalled it and downloaded it again, but still the same.

Every time I go online I get flooded with popups. And McAfee keeps picking up trojans.

I have ran Ad-Aware, Spybot to cleare spyware and ran McAfee to clear everything but as soon as i go back on line it starts again.

Thanks for the feedback, you have several nasty infections, Vundo is causing the popups to rouge spyware sites. Follow my directions to rename HJT and then you should be able to use HJT. Please do not be online more than you have to, some of that junk may be able to download more junk while you are online. Rename HJT first, then reboot, and you should then be able to complete the instructions. Wish I could do it for you, but unfortunately, I can not.

IF you continue to have problems using HJT, then download the new beta like this:
    Download Trend Micro Hijack This™
    http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en...?page=download
Download it to your Program Files folder.
Doubleclick the HijackThis_V2.exe to start it.
Click "Do a System Scan and save a logfile"
    This will create a HijackThislog.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply

and use it instead of the other version 1.99.1.

    Thanks...Phil

    Hi Phil,

Just to let you know I have fixed my PC. As it was a new build and there was not too much on my PC, I ended up formating the hard drives. I have ran McAfee and SpyBot and they have both come up clean. So on that note thanks for taking the time to try and help and much as this forum is great hopefully I wont have to use it again fingers crossed.

    Cheers,

    Jim.
