Help with Trojan.Vundo, Smitfraud and others
Hi,
I have been suffering from a series of Pop-up adds and pages opening inside both IE and Firefox including System Doctor, Web Trends and WindowsAntiVirusPro2006. They also bring up windows encouraging a download of the products.
Spybot detected amongst other things the SmitFraud, Zlob and registry keys which appear to override or disable AV and Firewall programs. All are currently quarantined. Alarmingly when in Safe Mode the desktop does not load after 30 mins, though I was able to run S&D through Taskmanager (and detect the baddies).
Symantec picked up an attack by Trojan.Vundo the other day. Our network at work is heavily infested with variants of Tok, Bakmal, Fujacks to name but a few, that was my main source of infections and we have no IT support :-( I Used Trend Micro House Call and found "SPYWARE_KEYL_ASTLOG" plus a couple of tracking Cookies.
I think I now have a good selection of software and better computer habits to stop their spread again. Any help in cleaning up my machine of the final remnants would be appreciated.
