Default Help with Virtumonde and Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888

Hi I really need help with this. I keep running SpyBot and it detects Virtumonde and Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888 and I don't know what to do. I've read other threads and I installed ZoneAlert as my firewall and I ran VundoFix but I'm really not sure what to do now. Also, I don't want to reinstall my computer if I don't have to because i only use this computer for games and music.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information. "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

It often takes several runs for Vundofix to locate and remove all Vundo files, you still have this one becuase I can see it was not removed:

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcaywv - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ddcaywv.dll

Run the fix again to see if it will find and remove that one, if not do this:

Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box
above the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the
next window opens, copy and paste the files into the boxes and click on Add
File(s), then click on Close Window. Then click Remove Vundo.

    File to add: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ddcaywv.dll

You also have this item to be removed once Vundo is gone:
    C:\WINDOWS\mgrs.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [smgr] mgrs.exe
    http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/RRHBCD.../MGRS.EXE.html

Post the Vundofix log and a new HJT log.

    Thanks

I accidentally did things out of order, i deleted the file first and then ran a scan with VundoFix so I don't think that it's logged that VundoFix killed the file. Also, the mgrs.exe is still there. I installed Prevx 2.0 and at first it detected it, but it wouldn't kill it. So I opened the help page and it said that mgrs.exe was no longer deemed as bad. So now Prevx won't get rid of it.

    Default Outside help suggestion

I asked my friend for some help who knows a lot about C++ and this kind of stuff and he said he's gotten mgrs.exe before and he told me to try this.
    http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/in...0&#entry346758
I didn't try it in case you wanted me to do something else, but if this will work, tell me and I'll do that. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, I had a different tool in mind for that trojan, I can't tell if Prevx removed it or not, so this may take another step now. That Prevx link I posted was just to show you what that malware was.

    1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

    2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
    http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

    3) Prevx may block the changes we must make, follow these directions to turn it off.
Right click on the Prevx icon in your system tray at the bottom-right corner of your screen and choose Show Management Console..
On the Management Console click the Protection Level drop-down menu. You will see three levels:
    Maximum
    Off
    User Defined
To disable all protection set the level to Off. You will receive a prompt asking "You are about to change your security settings. Do you wish to continue?" Click Yes.
Click the X on the upper right hand corner to exit the Management console.

    4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7DF5F63D-3D05-41B3-989F-A3C574DD5DA0} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vturo.dll (file missing)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A6807262-1D7A-44AB-947B-23B71E97915C} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcaywv.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [smgr] mgrs.exe
    O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://download.games.yahoo.com/game...ploader_v6.cab
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcaywv - ddcaywv.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winubg32 - winubg32.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    5) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\mgrs.exe <<< delete that file (may be gone)

    6) Run a scan with Prevx and post the scan results.

    7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Post the Prevx scan results, a new HJT log and let me know how the computer is running.

    Thanks

Here's the HJT log. I don't know what the PrevX log is because the only log I found was a log of the entire scan (like what file it scanned at what time) but it made the post 1,930,000 characters too long. These are the files it found though:

    C:\DOCUME~1\CHRIS\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WIN52.TMP.EXE
    C:\DOCUME~1\CHRIS\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WIN56.TMP
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CHEAT ENGINE\DBK32.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\OPNNKLK.DLL

    Default BlackCore?

Sorry for so many posts, but I ran SpyBot just now and found BlackCore. Lately, I've been getting these but I ignored them but now I'm wondering if it's something I should be concerned about. Other than that, I think my computer is fine.

Thanks for the feedback, let me mention again I do use Prevx for some hard to remove trojans, but I have tested it and it is an intense resource user that slowed my computer dramatically. Unless you intend to purchase it, I would suggest you uninstall it.

Do you intend for this to be your Start Page?

You may have to ask at the Spybot forum about that item:

Let's run another scan first, your HJT log appears clean of malware. How is the computer running now?

Now run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from Kaspersky Online Virus Scanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
    • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
    • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
    • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    • Standard
    • Scan Options:
    • Scan Archives
    • Scan Mail Bases
    • Click OK
    • Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer
    • This will program will start and scan your system.
    • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
    • Save the file to your desktop.
Post the log into your next reply.

    Thanks
