Smile Zlob.DNSChanger - please help remove

    Hi

I am new to this site and am not sure whether I am using the post threads facility properly, so please be patient with me.

I use Spybot S&D Version 1.4 regularly and discovered the other day Zlob.DNSCharger which I let Spybot fix only to find that it had returned after rebooting. Please help try and remove. Through Google search I found threads where you have done this before.

    I have read the details on what to do before posting and have done the following;
    1. Ran the on-line Anti Virus scan on the CA website which found no problems. The following message came up

Scan Results: Scan Completed. 87153 files scanned. No viruses found.

    2. Then I ran Spybot in safe mode where it came up with the Zlob.DNSChanger error which I let Spybot fix. Then I reran with no errors.

    3. Then I rebooted to Windows and ran the HiJackThis program from Merijn's. I got an error part way through running that said - Denied Access to Host Files - Edit file by using 'run' - notepad "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" and remove the lines HiJackThis reports and delete them, then save the files as "hosts." and reboot. I wasn't happy to do this initially without your help, so I reran HiJackThis taking the "scan & save log" option. The following is the HJT log.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information. "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

G'Day, I apologize for the wait, have you resolved your issues. Since you are new here I will show you this link:
If you have waited FOUR days for advice post here.
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=1137

Now to be candid, if you still need help, many of the tools we use will not run on Vista and I am still learning how to clean this OS. I can make no promises because of this other than I am willing to do my best to help. If that works for you and you still need the help, start like this.

    1) You are running HJT.exe from a .zip file in a Temporary Directory. This is unsafe as we will have no backups. That is why you received this message when you used HJT: http://russelltexas.com/malware/images/unsafefolder.gif
Please use the information in the following link to place HJT in a permanent, safe folder, I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. If you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

    2) Is this address valid for you? http://whois.domaintools.com/208.67.220.220

    3) Please supply me with any new information you think will help.

    4) Since malware can change quickly, after you move HJT to a safe location, post a fresh HJT log.

    Cheers...Phil
