    Hi wizbit
Delete or rename that file you mentioned in the other thread then re-enable all you have disabled using msconfig and post a fresh hijackthis log.

Thanks for looking at the log

I must be a bit ahead of you as this log is with the file deleted and the link in msconfig removed (with the link just starting the Svchost..exe {deleted} file.

    OK great

    Cleanup
Launch Notepad (not wordpad), and copy and paste the contents of the code box below into a new text file.
Save it as file name: "fixme.reg" (not including the quotes). Save as file type: All files (*.*) and save it on your Desktop.
    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{9B71D88C-C598-4935-C5D1-43AA4DB90836}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wget]
Now double-click on the fixme.reg file you saved and click on the Yes button when it asks if you would like to merge the information. Once you get a successful message delete fixme.reg.

Do you use a hosts file ?
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
    Replace it about once monthly
    How did that go ?

    Have you read this ?
To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"

Thanks for the help you gave
If i may the reg code i imported in the last post is it a delete command for the wget file? as i was woundering what it did?

I have not used the host file as i have windows xp and am part of a network of computers and i did read the work arounds but decided not to do it at the moment .

I spent a bit of time reading all the all the advice in the stickys and there links from there and found them very interesting.

    Hi

Yes the reg import was to remove those two items,
Check the instructions again about the hosts file, the precoutions are mainly for windows 2000 system's on a network, not XP, You could always try it then if problems arise undue it.
