Contra virus etc

I am new to spybot too and my knowledge of computers is limited. I first downloaded spybots because contravirus kept showing up on my computer. Spybot was suggested to me. When I run it it shows spy shield, ad protect, contra virus and virus blast as problems. When I use the fix it button it indicates that spyshiel could not be fixed. I'm asked to restart my computer and it runs. It is a much longer search this time and by the end of it I get error messages that come to fast to write down and the computer freezes up. The red threads still appear even within a hour is I run the scan again and the contravirus still shows up. The other silly problem I have is figuring out how to post something new. I just piggybacked onto braves 2007. I have an older system. Windows 98 Thanks

You probably know that WIN98 is an operating system no longer supported by Microsoft, so it cannot be updated or it's vulnerabilities patched.

Even security software is really just a band-aid against infection, of which you appear to have a few.

You could follow the procedure in this link to produce a HJT log "BEFORE you POST" -Preliminary Steps and start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum
