    Default Hosts file

I'm using Spybot1.5.1.15 and just lately it is taking ages to open.
When I look in the Hosts file there is a HUGE list of web sites which have been added by Spybot. Presumably this is why it now takes so long to open.
    Is this OK?

It is taking forever to open. Wasn't going to say anything till I read someone else...but yes, v1.4 took a while, but this is long even by Spybot standards. Add to the immunization update problem that I (and others) are having, version 1.5 still seems buggy.

Perhaps someone will answer now that there are two posts in your thread.

Well, I've had a look at that site but I'm no wiser.
Spybot again took ages to load tonight.
When I tried to updatethat process also took ages to start and eventually failed.
I have used version 1.4 for a couple of years and was happy with it, but version 1.5 is quite unacceptable.

Did you attempt to download and test the fix for the problem?

Beta test version for this issue:
    SpybotSD.exe 1.5.1.16 at SpybotSD.exe-1.5.1.16-2007-09-24-issues-76-78-79-84-85.zip

What a pity that Version 1.5 is such a mess.
    I have now removed it.

Yes, I did actually try the "fix" but that did not solve the problem and indeed it caused a secondary problem viz, a warning that AVG antivirus had been turned off! This was resolved only by using System Restore back to before the "fix" was installed.
I have used Spybot for a couple of years without problems but 1.5 is obviously not yet viable. Sadly I felt it necessary to remove it.
