    Default Question About Virut 32

My computer has Virut 32 on it. I am not sure how Virut 32 works.

I have an external hard drive that I copied two Virut infected exe files to. I did not run the files. I just copied them. There are no other exe files on the external drive, just the two that I copied. Is my external drive now ruined and infected with Virut? Or, can I fix the problem by simply deleting the two infected files from the drive.

    Hi, welcome to Safer Netowrking!

Deleting the two files would suffice. Just make sure that you reformat and backup all files (except .exe and .scr) that you have on the infected machine.

Virut is a polymorphic file infector. As of now, the best course of action is to backup and reformat.
