Update windows is very slow to shouw up

I installed version 1.5 and applied the recent patch but I still notice a remarkable slowness while showing up the window with the available updates for the signatures.

Even if no update is availble the response showing up the windo is very slow, about 10 seconds.

Immunisation and other areas of the program seem to work fine.

My Config: P3 ht - 1 gb ram - win xp - no spybots residents activated.

Please help, with version 1.4 everything was so fast.

How exactly do you open the update window?

There are basically three ways leading to two slighly different results:

1. Choosing the "Update" button on the start menu of Spybot-S&D.
2. Choosing the "Update" from Spybot's toolbar at the left, or starting it from the Windows start menu.

Method 2 will just start the updater and should immediately open the window. Method 1 opens the windows and immediately starts looking for updates (shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 seconds though even if the server is on heavy load).

Is your slowdown maybe only through method 1? Maybe you could compare against method 2 to check whether the time to download update information is the key here?

I tried the three options you mentioned, first 3 tests with Spybot S&D resident active, the same 3 tests with no resident active.

I chronoed the time and in all the case it was a 'boring' 8 sec before the update window shows up.
