installed but will not open

I uninstalled SpyBot as part of fixing my virus scan software. I used SpyBot uninstall in Start, Programs. Later when I installed it new from the download site it would not open from the Icon on the screen or from Start, Programs Icon. I could update it from Start, Programs. So I uninstaled and re-installed again. Same result. Then I went to the site and found info that after uninstalling I should remove settings and used that to do so. Again installed with the same result that is would not open. I have used SpyBot for a long time along with AVG virus scan. No problems. all worked great. SpyBot is terrific. I have Windows ME. plenty of memory.

If anyone has a solution please advise. Thanks. In the meantime I keep deleting all the cookies in Temp files.
