spybot hangs

I have spybot 1.4 installed w/ win xp pro. When I run scan the process hangs. The scan does not stop on the same file set, sometimes it will hang on say number 53 sometimes it might get up to 4000 or 5000 before hanging, but it never gets anyways near 30,000.

I have tried to reinstall SB S&D, tried to run in safe mode, tried to turn off the internet, tried to run only some of the file sets, nothing seems to help.:(

I have used spybot for some time, and never had a bit of problem with it?
