Java Trojen

Hi,

I did a scan on my computer using Kaspersky Online Scanner the other night when it detected 3 viruses in the Java applications folders. They were all in zip files, so I did a remove using the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs software. It seemingly removed the programs, but not without updating the java software.

I rebooted the computer and ZoneAlarm picked up 3 blocked intrusions coming from funky executable files names (i.e. c:\23rrefadscasv.exe)

It also gave me a block when surfing through I.E. that a keylogger may be attached to my computer.

Anyhow, I am kind of stuck at this point. I ran HiJackThis, so here's my log:

Hi Steve, I don't really see any malware in this log but it is out of date? Pinned to the top of the forum and posted above are the directions. Post the correct HJT log but do not run and post the Kaspersky scan until I request it at this point.

Post any new information you have, have you scanned with your resident antivirus program to see what Eset locates?

Everytime I first load up internet explorer, ZoneAlarm pops up with iexplore.exe and a msg saying that something is possibly attempting to log my keys or some sort of spyware is evident.

I did as you requested. I performed a resident scan with NOD, and it came up completely negative.

Hi Steve, I see nothing that looks like a keylogger in the HJT log, can you tell me if any new program was installed at the time Zone Alarm start notifying you?
23rrefadscasv.exe <<< Google reports nothing on this item, have you looked on the C:\ for anything unusual? You can right click and look at properties, and if you did not put it there, delete it.

Keyloggers concern me because the are usually looking for passwords and information to convert to cash. Keep a close eye on all accounts you have information on the computer about until this is resolved.

A couple of suggestions I have:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.

You have good programs, make sure they are updated and scan the complete system, let me know if they find anything you can not explain:

Run another Kaspersky scan using these settings:
Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here. <<< please don't post a clean scan, just let me know.

Hey Steve, thanks for that feedback. Zone Alarm will monitor all activity in both directions, you have the option of being notified when it does that or not. Right click the Z in your System Tray and click Program Control on the left and the Programs Tab. That list is the programs that ZA is monitoring, you should check to make sure nothing has access to the internet you are not aware of. I allow very few programs Server access myself. It takes a bit to get organized and then ZA will do all the work for you quietly except when something new tries to pass through your firewall. Sometimes it will be as simple as a program update needing to be validated again. If a malware programs get onboard then ZA will inform you it is trying to access the internet. You would want to deny it access until you investigate to find out what it is. If you find it is malware, then remove it from you computer. I also suggest while you are there, you look with the Overview Tab chosen and Status at the top for the "Flash Tutorial" in the upper right corner. Take the time to view that tutorial for a better understanding of how your firewall works.
