I have noticed that about:blank is hijacking my homepage despite me resetting it to my desired homepage on numerous occassions.

Please help

Use HJT to remove this line:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
If you have issues doing this, turn off any spyware program you have running first, like Windows Defender, TeaTimer, etc.

Then set your HomePage using this information:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...e7_basics.mspx

I did what both you and Shaba told me to do and I have delated the R0 as instructed but despite having reset my home page again, I still get about:blank as a home pge.

In addition I have read the post regarding what to do before posting.

What do I do about the about:blank

I really don't know, that is one of three settings available to you in Internet Explorer under Internet Options > General Tab> Home Page.
Use blank is the third one, what do you have set for a Home Page in that box?

This is basic computer and has nothing to do with malware removal. It is possible a spyware program that blocks changes like TeaTimer, Windows Defender or others can cause this, so turn any you have running off until you have the HomePage you wish.

If that does not work, look for a forum dealing with IE issues, here is the Google:

I have reset my homepage as per your instructions for the last 10 years using IE5, IE6 and IE7. I reset it again after i received your reply today and it is back to about:blank.

What ever homepage i assign as default in IE settings, after a few loads it reverts to about blank. Is this malware or not?
