OK, so I don't think you understood what I was saying in my post yesterday. After I run a Combofix log, it doesn't let me connect to the internet ! (Problem loading page)

I'm able to do the HJT log and get back on line, as you see in previous post, but not after I run combofix !

    What's going on ????

    Hi

I see. Combofix stops internet connection while running that more malware don't come during that. These should be helpful if internet is down due to Combofix:

    * Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections.
    * Right click on Network icons & select "Repair"

    That should do the trick.

    If not:

Alternately, if the Network icon appears in the notification area in the lower right corner of Desktop, right-click it, and then click Repair from the shortcut menu.

    We need combofix log anyway:

    Go to start -> run

Type notepad c:\ComboFix.txt and click ok.

    Combofix log will open.

Please post contents of that here

    That looks very good

We'll run one online scan to be sure:

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
    • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
    • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
    • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

      o Scan Options:

      + Scan Archives
      + Scan Mail Bases
    • Click OK
    • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
    • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Note: This scanner will work with Internet Explorer Only!

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

That's great news that it looks good! How do I know for sure if I'm using Internet Explorer ? The icon is on my desktop but isn't listed in control panel as an installed program. We're currently using Netscape 9.0 ???

    Hi

Ok, it won't work with Netscape.

    Go to start -> run

    Type iexplore.exe and click ok.

    Does Internet Explorer open now?

yes it does, and it brings me to emachines home page w/ IE icon. Should I go ahead and run the Kaspersky scanner now ? Then afterward can we remove Explorer- that caused many problems a few years ago and I'm really not comfortable with IE at all !
