    Exclamation I am infected

Or rather, the server PC in my office is infected. I was told by my clerk she opened a file called HAPPY NEW YEAR. I felt like strangling her....

I have tried all the usual methods to detect and remove it, booting up in safe mode, HijackThis to identify the malicious entries, TrendMicro sysclean.com with the latest pattern files (which hinted at TROJ_PEACOMM but could not cleaned it).

In fact, the mention of PEACOMM is what make me google PEACOMM, TROJAN, which eventually led me to this site and a few other blog sites mentioning a storm brewing concerning this.

With over 400 variants in the wild now and more being generated constantly, does anyone know how I can manually remove this? I really hope I don;t need to format my C partition and reinstall everything but if that is the best and fastest way to put an to this nightmare, I guess I don't really have a choice. ( there is no  )

P/S: I am sorry if I didn't post in the right section. I am so flustered and desperate for a solution now.

Default Peacomm Storm Worm's latest onslaught?

I have strong reason to believe the server PC in my office is infected by the Storm Worm mentioned in the Malware Alert. I was told by my clerk she opened a file called HAPPY NEW YEAR. I felt like strangling her....

I have tried all the usual methods to detect and remove it, booting up in safe mode, HijackThis to identify the malicious entries, TrendMicro sysclean.com with the latest pattern files (which hinted at TROJ_PEACOMM but could not clean it). Spybot with the latest update didn't found anything either.

Symptom : Internet traffic jammed with random rebooting. Random rebooting gone after I disabled Network Adapter driver
Scanning with HijackThis reveal a few but not all signs of BRONTOK. I have removed and deleted the relevant files and registry entries but the Internet traffic jamming and random rebooting returned whenever I enabled Internet adaptor again. Could it be traces of BRONTOK are red herring due to the random generation of variant nature of this so-called Storm Worm? Am I making any sense?
