spybot encounters error and closes

Hi everyone,I just downloaded the newest version of spybot yesterday (1-8-08) and every time I click on the desktop icon to start it I get an error and it closes. The error says KRNL386 or KRNL486.exe.
I am new to computers and using Internet software so if anyone can tell me what this means and what I have to do to fix the problem so I can run and use spybot1.5 I would really appreciate the help.
