"Check for problems" error

I'm using SpyBot for the first time. Installed fine, checked for updates fine ("no newer updates available"), but then when I click "Check for problems", I get the error message: "You need to install the detection updates first by using the integrated update or the manual updater." I had done that, re-did it, same error.
Any ideas? Thanks!

In Spybot 1.4 the update process starts with the download of the following file:

• http://www.safer-networking.org/updates/spybotsd.ini

This file contains a list of the update servers and the available updates.

To verify if the spybotsd.ini file is being downloaded, go into Spybot > Update (left pane) > click the "Show log" button (right pane). Are there any downloads shown for:

• mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss xM Downloaded update info file.
