Default 19 files not protected under immunize

    Hello,

I'm new. When running immunize I have 19 files left unprotected. I typed this info in to google & came across this 5 step cure

    http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...all-items.html

One of the streps is to use Panda scan which I did & it shows I had 4 viruses which it said were now disinfected, & various other spyware jobbies hacks etc. so it is now suggesting I download "Spyware blaster" which is listed as untrustworthy on this site

    http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Please tell me what you recommend Mr & Mrs Spybot or like expert

    thanks a lot Lacanox

    Lacanox:

Are you running other anti-malware software the may be preventing full immunization, such as Webroot's Spy Sweeper?

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

    Hello,

Please upgrade to the new Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2.
You will find links to several download locations on our website:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
Please search for new updates after installing Spybot-S&D 1.5.2.

Just to clarify, the program that was recommended was probably SpywareBlaster which is not on the Rogue list, it is a good program.

So how did I get infected in the first place?

It will protect you from most spy/foistware in it's database by blocking installation of their ActiveX objects.
    Cheers.

Thumbs up Thank you all jolly nice

    Hello chaps

thanks for the advice. the version of Spybot I have is 1.5.1.15. so I will update now.

thanks for the heads up on SpywareBlaster & I will try to remember that it is safe. And I will install it having read a bit further.

I have been using AVG anti virus & adaware the latter does not run in the back ground, I just update it & then do a scan from time to time.

I have just downloaded Kaspersky anti virus free trial & am doing a full scan with that. They too had found several viruses & hacking tools with their online scan so I'm thinking down load their trial version & get rid of the viruses. My AVG did say it was up to date but it missed these viruses.

also now just read the Tony Klein how Did I get Infected. Excellent & thanks.

which confirms my basic belief that most humans are decent & honest

    Cheers

    Hi,
    I just installed version 1.5.2.20.
Now, I must turn off Spy Sweeper to get a successful immunize.
