Default thanks... and question a/b issues found by COMODO

    Hi Ken,

I hope you stay safe in the snow. My son enjoyed your cowboy smilie. And thanks for the tips. I decided to go with the COMODO firewall (also recommended by Consumer Reports). However, on the install scan it discovered two additional issues:

    - 3Y(ID = 0xa54) C:\HPstartup\dos\UNDELETE.EXE
    - Backdoor.VBS.Dial.4864(ID = 0xa6f) C:\Master Copy Our Files\Recieved files\dosvue_4\DVF.EXE

I told it to delete the files. Should I be concerned further?

I'm also pasting another HJT log. I'm wondering in particular about this line:

O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\nwprovau.dll

    Here is the log:

    Peter,

Not all scans find everything and as long as your system is running ok then no problem with what Comodo removed

O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\nwprovau.dll <-- This is legit, its related to Client Service for NetWare

Read this about Flashget and its your call to uninstall it or not.

    Default Question RE http://www.grc.com/intro.htm

    Hi Ken and thanks.

Question about the grc scan: It gave me a warning about my IP machine name, which seems to be unique. (I don't want to publish it here.) Is there an easy way to hide this?

Also, it passed the "Most Common and Troublesome Internet Ports" test but failed the tests "All Service Ports" (Determine the status of your system's first 1056 ports) with this result:

1043 Closed Unknown Protocol for this port Unknown Application for this port

    with this description:

"solicited TCP Packets: RECEIVED (FAILED) — As detailed in the port report below, one or more of your system's ports actively responded to our deliberate attempts to establish a connection. It is generally possible to increase your system's security by hiding it from the probes of potentially hostile hackers."

    I'm clueless. Any suggestions?

    Peter

    Peter,

What I suggest you do is post in the Comodo forum for Shields up reports, they will be better able to answer your questions. We do just malware removal on this one and this is about as far as I can go, have many many more computers to clean.

Your very kind Peter, all of us in the forums are volunteers and any donation big or small just goes to help keep us online. If you look up on the top right on the tool bar you will see a link for donate.

    Thanks,
