spybot starts but stops immediately

I have spybot 1.4 B2 and have downloaded all the most recent updates on 05.11.2005.
When I start the Search & Destroy > Check for problems
the scan starts but stops after about 10 seconds and the spybot
window closes.

Has this something to do with the settings of my spybot,
it looks more like spybot has been disabled by something else ?

You appear to be running an old and unsupported beta version of Spybot-S&D.
