    That reminds me of when guests used to come over to my relatives house I always used to hear "Come in, come in! No, no don't take your shoes off." It used to confuse me, because you'd think taking your shoes off would be more comfortable.

    I used to hear "Pull up a chair." if anyone came during mealtime at my grandparents, and a plate full would materialize despite any protests. Sometimes I think they'd already eaten, and were politely forced to eat again.

    My great aunt sometimes used to bring trifle for dessert. It was delicious!
    Though it is possible it just seemed really delicious because my other relatives always said she added a large amount of rum to it.

    It's possible, my mother would soak her fruit cake in rum......always made my nose burn.

    I don't think anyone ever made a fruit cake in my family. As I recall, it was always boughten and never eaten. It would just sit there.

    Oh yeah, nothing beats a southern made pecan pie.

    Here we have Black walnut trees that we've been told are worth quite a bit of money.
