    Smile Acid 3 Test Comparison

I just decided to do a comparison of the new (well it is not really new!) acid 3 test between firefox 2 and internet explorer 7.

First here is the reference rendering (what it is supposed to look like)

Here is the internet explorer 7 rendering:

As you can see, it bares very little resemblance to the reference rendering.

    Smile

Here is the firefox 2 rendering:

It shows more resemblance to the reference rendering than internet explorer 7, but again it is not rendered very well

At least it rendered the test better than internet explorer!

    Default Firefox 3 beta 3

As an extra I will show how firefox 3 beta 3 renders the acid 3 test:

Out of all the browsers tested here so far, firefox 3 beta 3 renders the test the best, but it still has a loooong way to go (59/100)

I use a few browsers. IE 5.5 (Which was no longer supported for Windows 98, only Windows Me and up updates for it.) And FireFox 2.0.0.12. The only Browser which was last supported for Windows 98SE was 6. Which I have never used on my system, except in Me.

I tried out two other browsers: The World Browser, it turns out to be a very nice FireFox like shell for the IE engine. It's not Firefox in looks or feel. Just some features like and more. I have since uninstalled it.

There is another browser which it seems to be based on the same browser engine as FireFox, its called K-Meleon. If failed the acid3 test just as FireFox did.

    Smile k-meleon

ah yes, k-meleon the speed demon!

I like it due to the fact you do not need to install it (and because it fast!)

But, it lacks the features that other browsers have, so I don't use it as my primary one.

It is still very useful, as you can run it on a pen drive (or memory sticks, as we call them here in the UK), even without needing to install portable apps

    Wink Firefox 3 beta 5

Firefox 3 beta 5 has been released so here's how it did on the acid 3 test:

I have to congratulate Firefox - 71/100 is a great score, especially for a beta!

    Default Opera 9.52

I just recently intalled Opera 9.52 (a 9.6 is available.) And it did well, though failing: 84/100
