    Default VX2.BetterInternet infection

I have been getting garbage when going to some web sites and I have been told that I may have the VX2.BetterInternet adware.

I have also run SpyBot in normal and safe mode but nothing is detected. Does anyone have any ideas??

    Hello,

Which version of Spybot do you run?

Do you have installed the latest updates?

    Best regards

Also, please consider if your computer is infected by a variant of L2M you may need assistance with specialised removal.

Therefore we should see a log and I will jump ahead and ask you to provide one as follows:

    Spybot-S&D
Open SpyBot, check for and get any updates available, close all browsers, check for problems and fix everything found. Then on the toolbar menu select mode and switch to advanced mode, on the left lower down select tools, and view report, ensure all the options are selected near the bottom except

Uncheck[ ] do not report disabled or known legitimate Items.
uncheck[ ] Include a list of services in report.
Uncheck[ ] Include uninstall list in report.

Attach or copy paste the log into this topic.

Make sure you update the program after installing and before scanning. (If you receive a Bad Checksum Error please try another download mirror.)

If you are running an older version of Spybot-S&D.

Spybot-S&D 1.4 Final has been released.
    Uninstalling Previous Spybot-S&D
    Spybot-S&D Version 1.4 Download

    Cheers.

Additionally, I have also been getting the following error message while the computer is booting up:

    >>McAfee VirusScan
    >>An error occurred while initializing ActiveShield.

    >>Method: CoMcAppFactory::Register
    >>Result: 0x80004015

Does the above possibly mean this computer has not been registered with McAfee or does this mean something else??

Thanks again to both of you for all your assistance
    Sincerely,
    Dan A. Peters
