Default HostsMan indicates an Error after immunization by SB

    Hi Guys,

    {XP Pro, SP2;SB 1.5.2.20}

As for Host I use MVPS + SB immunization (Global Hosts checked).
Usually after updating using HostsMan I am checking Immunization in SB and immunize if SB detects unimmunized items.
    I never encountered problems.
I regularly perform HostsMan’s “Check for duplicates” and “Scan” for Errors
Today after updating MVPS SB showed 1 unprotected item in front of Global.
After immunization HostsMan’s Scan showed 1 Error. I fixed it.
Went back to SB and it reports the same 1 unprotected entry again.
So, the entry, which gives Error after SB is (I have to post it despite the name )
    127.0.0.1 .supercocklol.com
But that’s how it looks like when I see it in Notepad.
The <dot> in front of the name is displayed in Error List of HostsMan as a square symbol (cannot paste special symbol here)

Any ideas what could that be?
    Thanks in advance

    SiberLynx:

    G'day (Привет),

You are correct. It is an error in coding the entry for the HOSTS file. There is a correct entry for the same site in the file. The good entry:
    • 127.0.0.1 supercocklol.com

    The incorrectly coded entry:
    • 127.0.0.1 .supercocklol.com

In addition there are 18 other entries that are duplicated in the HOSTS:

    hello,

thank you for reporting this issue. It appears that an we made an error. Until this is fixed in the next updated scheduled for this Wednesday please manually remove the line
    127.0.0.1 .supercocklol.com
    from your hosts file.
The dot at the beginning of the domain should not be there.

(Здравствуй!) Hello md usa spybot fan,
As for good and bad entries – Yes that’s right. Thank you for confirmation. HostsMan fixed that.
As for duplicates ... well... HostsMan didn’t show them and I rechecked manually.
There are no Uppercase Entries as you showed and the either HM Scan or simple Find in function in, say Notepad are case insensitive.
Bellow are few sets with some entries with keywords you provided. And those are not duplicates as far as I understand.
    127.0.0.1 antispywaresuite.com
    127.0.0.1 protect.antispywaresuite.com

    Thanks for replying Yodama,
As I wrote above answering md usa spybot fan, I don’t need to do that manually.
HostsMan fixes that. So, probably just superLOL.com left and other thing was cut off

    Cheers Guys

    Yodama:

Thank you. It appears that all the problems noted above were corrected with the 2008-04-09 updates.

Unfortunately, it appears that two (2) new pairs of duplicates were added with that update:
    • 127.0.0.1 powermpeg.com
    • 127.0.0.1 powermpeg.com
    • 127.0.0.1 www.powermpeg.com
    • 127.0.0.1 www.powermpeg.com
