    Default Authorized Spybot seller?

Help! My daughter's laptop (Win XP) says it's got a virus. I ran S&D (free one) and it said we had over 400 problems, 2 viruses, etc. and I would have to purchase ($39.95) the fix. I happily did so and expected a code key or something but got nothing. Waited for a disk in the mail but again nothing.
I originally thought I was dealing with your company but found out thru my credit card I was billed by digiweb corporation. Are they a legit reseller of your stuff or did I get taken?? My computer went directly to this sight from the S&D screen. I still have no fix and would sure appreciate some help or advice.
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, you were ripped-off. Spybot-SD is a free program. Users may donate if they wish. Spybot-SD does not charge for its use. Consumers will not receive any less support whether they donate or not. From how I see it, the one you got was a fake or you were cheated. Spybot is downloadable for free at: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
That is the homepage. I would strongly report this site/company from which you were cheated to the Spybot-team. And ask for your money back from the place where you purchased the "fake".

    Hello eyedoc2,

As drragostea said, Spybot-S&D is free for personal use.

There are a lot of rogue programs, please see: Critiquing C-NetMedia’s Anti-Spyware Offerings and Advertising Practices

Spybot-Search & Destroy is not designed to find and remove viruses or worms. The program searches for spyware, malware, adware, trojans, hijackers and keyloggers.

The rogue program may have alerted you to false detections in order to scare you into purchasing their product.

However, if you need assistance to remove an infection, please follow the procedure in this link:
"BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)

Then start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum where a helper will advise you when available.

    Best regards.

    Default Almost ripped off

Unfortunately I was also sent from your page to some other page where I downloaded version 1.5.5 which is not the latest. Then came the same message, but I knew better and did not click for the supposed software that would fix the PC. Somethig wasdownloaded that change dthe desktop and would pop up a message telling me my PC was infected.

I disconnected from the internet to avoid more dowloads and removed the 1.5.5 version. I then scanned with MaCafee(around 2 hours) and got rid of the problems. Re-installed Spybot S&D 1.4 and my PC is good as new again.

I dowmloaded 1.5.2 but I am fraid of installing it. Some of the problems found were defined as spies that would get information from the PC to send to other parties and much more.

anangeli, I would suggest you download a malware and virus scanner, because the rogue "Spybot" you got was a fake. It might probably leave folders and registry keys left over once you managed to uninstall it. Do not worry, you can download the official (it's genuine and trouble-free) Spybot-Search and Destroy at:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

The latest version is 1.5.2.20. Be sure to download the latest updates too. Thanks.
