VBulletin is cool, but sometimes it's too cool that it freaks me out.

I clicked on someone username and I saw the Edit Profile link.

I thought something is wrong. Click on the link, but it didn't work. Phew.

But... the new user profile will show user's email if set it to show. Will bots be able to harvest it?

I remember previously all we have is a link to email the user, can't remember seeing the email address though.

Logged out and view the profiles. No email addresses. Cool.

I think you can change your it in your User CP for it not to show.
