Missing Delzip179.dll and Antispy Spider Hijacker

Greetings,

I'm running windows XP.

Within the last week my computer has been infected with the Antispy spider hijacker. It's hijacked my browser and background display as well as giving faulty Windows Security Alerts.

I then updated my Spybot to the 15.2 version. It has no problem finding the problems but when it comes time to click " Fix the Selected" it freezes up, goes into not responding and gives me an "Missing Spybot-search_destroy/delzip179.dll. I checked the spybot folder and that file is there. So I'm not sure why I get the error that it is missing. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program to no avail. I also deleted the updates folder and the includes folder and re-updated it and that didn't work either.

So I ran HJT and the Kaspersky scans and will post there results now.

Uninstall Spybot for now to make sure TeaTimer won't interfere fixing. You may reinstall it after system is clean

You should also uninstall either AVG or McAfee since it's not recommended to run multiple antivirus programs in same system.

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it

• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

You could had used XP's in-built functionality for zipping too

Anyway, it's a good thing you posted it since some of your system files are infected and you need to install recovery console & run ComboFix again to fix things up.

To do that follow instructions here. Please post back ComboFix log it produces.

If something is unclear, please ask.

I don't have to CD for my Microsoft edition. So I went to Microsoft's website to download the file. The only options are Home and Professional. I have Media Center edition. I have no idea where that disk is. I did however purchase XP Home edition a while ago and never updated to that version. What should I do?

Save this as
CFScript




Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log.


Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.


Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it

Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache

Then click the Empty Selected button.

Run Kaspersky online scanner and post back its report & a fresh hjt log (without forgetting above meantioned ComboFix resultant log).
