i have spybot-SD resident running in my toolbar and if i get a virus will spybot notify me and i can run Spybot and it will remove it

The purpose of TeaTimer, Spybot-SD's Resident Shield, is to alert you on important registry changes. Examples would be a changed home page in IE (Internet Explorer). Others include a newly add start-up entry or a deleted one.

However, it depends on the virus. Like what it modifies and adds.

TeaTimer does not tell you the program or process which made this change, but the source. It would located for example in the registry.
