Default What tells me S&D is running (without teatimer) ?

I disabled Tea Timer as it was giving too many pop-ups, but this means the icon bottom right of taskbar doesn't show (not hidden either).

What is the easiest way to check if Spybot S & D is still running OK (for peace of mind).

Is there a process that I can check for in Task Manager
or does it only load up when I open Internet Explorer.

    Thanks.

    setecio:

Spybot itself (SpybotSD.exe) does not normally in the background.

There are two resident Spybot features, "TeaTimer" and "SDHelper". "SDHelper" is a Browser Helper Object (BHO) that runs with Internet Explorer.

To see if "SDHelper" ("Bad URL Blocker") is activated go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident. Under the heading "Resident protection status" you will see:
    • Resident "SDHelper" (Internet Explorer bad download blocker) active.
    • Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.

If the item for "SDHelper" is checked it should load with Internet Explorer when it starts.

To check if it is active, go into Internet Explorer > Tools. If there is a selection for "Spybot – Search Destroy Configuration", then in the "SDHelper" BHO is running.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.
